Exclusive Interview: Rocco Morrow & Riley Chu of Stagecrafters’ ‘Beetlejuice Jr.’

It’s time to journey to Stagecrafters once again and step into the Netherworld, as their production of Beetlejuice Jr arrives in Royal Oak! Based on the film by Tim Burton, this musical adaptation follows Lydia Deetz as she struggles to find her place in the world after losing her mother, and the trouble the pesky demon Beetlejuice causes in her life! We’re stoked to see this show come to another local playhouse and spoke with two of the cast members before the musical’s opening night: Rocco Morrow and Riley Chu!
In this exclusive Box Seat Babes Interview, Rocco Morrow and Riley Chu talk about their time in Stagecrafters’ Beetlejuice Jr and what it’s like to step into the shoes of iconic characters such as Beetlejuice and Lydia! As Morrow mentions, it’s a dream come true and also nerve-wrecking to follow in the footsteps of Michael Keaton or Winona Ryder, but both of these talented young actors are ready for the challenge! Morrow and Chu discuss how the junior edition of the musical differs from its Broadway counterpart, while also remaining true to the show’s core. Which songs from the production are their favorites to perform and watch? How has Beetlejuice Jr. challenged them as actors, pushing them in their craft? Check out this interview to learn all these answers and more!
